Update on Young Church Activities at St James's

Tiddlers Group

More about the Tiddlers Group

Why Change ?

For a number of reasons, including getting more helpers for young church, growing the group to include other children in the community who do not currently come to church on a Sunday and better serving those who regularly attend young church, it was decided to review how young church activities at St James are run.

A working group was set up over over the holiday period and this newsletter is to let the congregation know what decisions have been made and to outline what, when, and where and for whom young church activities will take place.

The following decisions are a result of the working group meetings.
The biggest problem has been the wide range of ages, so it has been decided to split the age groups into three categories; under 5s, 5-7 and 8-12+.

This means that we can cater for the needs of the specific age groups more easily and really allow them to make their journey in the faith at an appropriate level.

The 5-7 and 8-12+ age ranges will meet every other Wednesday after school until 4.45pm. We will all sit down to a snack and then break into groups for a story and activities before coming together for some collective worship.

Review

We are really enjoying this way of spending time with the Dolphin members. It means that they can play a much larger part in the Open Door services and on the fourth Sunday of the month they really help as sidespersons, with refreshments and sometimes with leading the intercessions.

These young people can teach us so much! If you want to know the programme for this summer please Click here. It shows you the link between Dolphins and what is happening in church.
