Now that we have established as a city-wide group, the MK Soup Runners Blog is moving to it’s very own site. This is basically so that all the local Groups involved can post thoughts and articles and also join in with a discussion forum and online diary.
The new site can be reached at http://www.mksouprun.org.uk and those of you who
have previously registered at the St James site will need to re-register to gain access to the protected areas.
Any stuff for publication will be moderated at first to prevent any spamming or inappropriate member requests, but it shouldn’t take long for the measures that are in place to ‘learn’ what can and shouldn’t go on the site.
For the time being, the current blog will remain live, but hopefully all the stuff will be transferred by the end of September.
Meanwhile, keep blogging….

I know, we’ve been here before with a possible Tuesday Soup Run set up. but we’ve had another interested group headed by Anwar, who joined us last night to see what we do and how we achieve it with a view to raising awareness of the issues within the Muslim Community.
We tried hard not to put him off….
Anwar took some photographs (with permission of course) and is going to write an article, hopefully which will be copied and published here and at the new Soup Runners site, so watch this space..

One like this perhaps..
Well it was only a matter of time I suppose before our clients taste buds become aclimatised to the new bill of fayre.
Bizarrely, tonight we had two requests:
Haven’t you got any proper sandwiches like we used to get ?
and
Haven’t you got any crayfish ?
Given that the second request was at the last drop of of the evening, perhaps we shouldn’t have been too amazed…
Still, we were cleaned out within a couple of minutes even though the contents of the sandwiches were clearly unrecognisable to some even with the aid of a torch….
Hopefully the sushi bar will be up and running soon…
Keep smiling !!

Thanks to our new partner
What a surprise that was then. Thanks to the hard work (and contacts..) of the Woughton Group, Pret a Manager in CMK have very kindly offered to donate their leftover sandwiches to the Soup Runners.
Mike Baldwin fron Woughton collected them for us, and to our surprise, there were dozens of them in all shapes and sizes.
Do you know what a crinkly old bag is ? We do…
No more slogging away with the loaves, spread and fillings for us Lads!
Our customers were a bit less certain about some of the fillings, and particularly circumspect about the insertion of spinach and salad items into their usual bland fillings.
Hopefully as they get used to the choice and change of fayre,we might convince them that ‘Fresh Food’ doesn’t always come from McDonalds and that chips are not one of the five fruit groups.
Just for now though, we won’t be providing a sandwich board (pun intended) with the wrap of the day offer.

Seems like the Tuesday evening spot is now taken by the Street Preachers – following a report on Monday from one of our customers, it appears that the Tuesday evening run is now being covered regularly with similar meeting places and times to the Woughton and Stantonbury runs.
Maybe it’s time to think about another evening or weekend if possible to provide even more support. It would be nice to conduct a poll among the customers to see what is best for them and then try to fill the need, and then ask for some volunteers..
Anyone from the Woughton Group who’s reading this, please ask when you’re out and about and feed back to me here.
Thanks
