Ribbon Dancing

Ribbon Dance 2010 Christchurch Stantonbury

Now I’ve got back to blogging there’s no stopping me. We are having a potted history of the past few months at St James!

One of the highlights was the way the children danced the story of Easter from Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem to the resurrection. I was amazed at how expressive the ribbon dancing was and how the young people were able to communicate triumph, pain and the heavenly joy of resurrection.

The photos here are of the dance they did at Christ Church, Stantonbury, during Holy Week, as part of the Arts Festival we held. If you go onto our gallery you can see all of the photos. Now for an attempt to upload a photo onto this article – if there isn’t one here it’s because I didn’t succeed!

A Feast of a Weekend

St James Flower Festival 2010What a wonderful way to celebrate 150 years!

A whole weekend to enjoy stunning flower displays, beautiful music of so many styles, and scrumptious food! It was so lovely to be able to simple be – still, in company or entertained.

A huge thank you to all those who worked so hard and with such vision to make it an event to be treasured. Thank you also to the many visitors who came and celebrated with us and to those who shared their gifts in so many ways with us all.

Thank God for the riches of this life and the opportunities of community!
